West London, July 29, 2010: Motoring publishers can breathe a sigh of relief, following the news that Chater's, the motoring and motorsport bookseller, has purchased the assets of specialist automotive wholesaler Menoshire.

The struggling West London-based company was the established route to market for motoring titles for many years and its demise could have had serious consequences for niche publishers and authors. Chater's has also secured the services of key Menoshire staff to ensure an immediate and smooth transition.

"We intend to continue where Menoshire left off," confirms Clive Stroud, Managing Director, Chater's Group of Companies.

"My father, Frank, started Menoshire over 32 years ago and whilst any controlling interest ceased long ago, we have enjoyed a long and fruitful business relationship. Menoshire plays an important role within the industry and that will continue, with a strong customer focus and increased range of services."

The announcement was welcomed by Coterie Press, the US-based publisher, whose recent titles include '"McLaren - The Cars" and "Team Lotus - The Formula 1 Cars".

"In the UK, the wholesaler provides a lifeline for specialist authors and publishers," explains William Taylor, Managing Director, Coterie Press.

"Without Menoshire, the future looked very bleak. The decision by Chater's is excellent news for the industry."

Chater's will now relocate to larger premises in Camberley, Surrey and expect the transition to be complete by September.
