MLADA BOLESLAV, CZECH REPUBLIC – February 28, 2011: Jonathan Greer made an impressive Dulux Trade MSA British Rally Championship (BRC) debut in his new Škoda UK supported Fabia S2000, finishing sixth on the opening round of the 2011 series, Rallye Sunseeker.

The 22-year old 2010 Mitsubishi Ralliart Evolution Challenge Champion from Carryduff in Northern Ireland only tested the ex-Patrik Sandell Fabia S2000 for 20 miles at Sweet Lamb in mid-Wales before arriving in Bournemouth for the start of Rallye Sunseeker.

Jonathan set ninth fastest time on the slippery opening gravel forest stage, and became more confident and fast after every stage. Co-driven by Dai Roberts, he took the David Greer Motorsport run car to fourth fastest on the eleventh and final stage. This secured a points-scoring sixth overall finish and first in S2000, with his only problem being a left rear puncture on SS7.

Jonathan: “I’m very pleased with what we managed to achieve on the Rallye Sunseeker and the events gone really well. I struggled a little bit at the start, purely because I haven’t had a lot of time in the car before the event. We weren’t committed enough in the morning and the car was driving us more than we were driving the car. The next loop of stages was much better, and I felt very comfortable in the car on the last two stages. We’ve made a lot of progress between the start and the end of Rallye Sunseeker, so I’m very happy.”

“The Škoda Fabia S2000 is much more responsive and nimbler to anything else I’ve rallied and it’s very enjoyable to drive. It’s good to finish the opening round of the BRC in the points, and I’m looking forward to getting more miles in the car.”

Jonathan’s Fabia S2000 is being supported by Škoda retailer Simpsons of Preston and Colne, who’s dealer principal is former VW works rally Neil Simpson.

Neil Simpson: “Simpsons Škoda is proud of its partnership with Jonathan Greer and the DGM team in their 2011 BRC campaign. Clearly both Simpsons as a business and I personally have had a long and successful association with rallying over the years and to be partnering Jonny in the Fabia S2000 opens a further exciting chapter in an already established history.

“Simpsons Škoda in Colne and Preston are a dynamic forward thinking business and this partnership allows us to communicate with our current and future customers on a unique and exciting level. Additionally it ensures that Simpsons Škoda is in front of a new, exciting and extended audience across the UK, therefore creating a broader awareness of both Simpsons and Škoda at this important time of growth within the brand.”

Škoda UK was also the official vehicle supplier for Rallye Sunseeker, with a fleet of Yetis and Superb Estate 4x4s driven by officials and a fully-police liveried Superb driven by the local Dorset Police force.
