PITTSBURGH--April 12, 2011: Pittsburgh Glass Works, LLC announced today the company has elected to establish a new North American manufacturing facility in Elkin, N.C.  This decision is part of PGW's strategic planning process and the result of continued increased demand for automotive glass products.

PGW has initiated the process to complete infrastructure improvements to an existing site that will be converted into a 416,000 square foot manufacturing facility located on approximately 58 acres in the community of Elkin with a planned investment of more than $85 million.

The facility is anticipated to initiate the hiring process in 2012 and will employ more than 260 associates when fully operational.

"The Elkin facility will be a state of the art operation that enhances our current customer delivery, increases our manufacturing capacity and provides flexibility within our manufacturing operations," indicated James D. Wiggins, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pittsburgh Glass Works, LLC.

"We are extremely pleased with the support provided by Governor Bev Perdue, Surry County Commissioner Paul Johnson, Elkin Mayor Lestine Hutchens and their colleagues with assisting our organization in determining Elkin as the most appropriate location for our new manufacturing facility and look forward to becoming part of the Surry County and Elkin communities," said Wiggins.

The Elkin facility will produce automotive glass products for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and aftermarket organizations within the automotive industry.
