Corporate-Nonprofit Partnership to Launch May 26 at FRESHFARM Market by the White House

WASHINGTON--May 24, 2011: Thrive DC, a nonprofit homeless services provider, announced today the launch of a new partnership with Zipcar, Inc., the world's leading car sharing network. The program will officially kick off at the FRESHFARM Market by the White House (810 Vermont Avenue, NW) on Thursday, May 26.

Due to impending government budget cuts that may affect DC social services providers, Thrive DC is expanding its efforts to partner with corporations. Starting in May, Thrive DC will use Zipcar vehicles to help gather and deliver donations, and Zipcar's local DC office will encourage members to use their reserved cars to volunteer to pick up donated food for Thrive DC from various locations throughout the city.

During Thrive DC Day on May 26, those attending the FRESHFARM Market will be able to sign up to volunteer for Thrive DC, get more information on Zipcar and sign up for memberships, and bring donations of travel-sized toiletries, new undergarments and socks for Thrive DC. Using Zipcar vehicles, donations will be transported to Thrive DC's Columbia Heights location.

"We're thrilled that community-conscious corporations like Zipcar are able to provide services and goods; thus making a tremendous difference in our ability to serve the neediest in Washington," said Thrive DC's Executive Director Alicia Horton.

"Zipcar is all about being local, and we're proud to make positive changes within our community by working with organizations like Thrive DC," said Ellice Perez, general manager, Zipcar DC.
