STERLING, VA--June 3, 2011: TireVan Corporation, a full service mobile tire replacement service, announced today that it is launching a tire safety campaign in the Washington DC metropolitan area. The company is partnering with the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) to promote National Tire Safety Week from June 5 to June 12.

As part of this campaign, TireVan will set up "Tire Check Pit stops" at large area employers including:  Northrop Grumman Information Systems, George Mason University, Navy Federal Credit Union, Orbital Sciences and MITRE Corporation. Free-of-charge, TireVan's skilled tire technicians will provide tire wear inspection, tire pressure checks and inflation, and educate drivers on the importance of properly maintained tires.  Phil Pifer, President and CEO of TireVan, explained TireVan's commitment to improving driver tire knowledge:  "After you buy a car, the next most important decision you make is the choice of tires and the proper maintenance of those tires.  We want to help drivers learn how they can improve safety, increase ride comfort, and save money."

A recent survey by RMA found that 55% of US vehicles have at least one under-inflated tire. The US Department of Energy estimates that a car driving 12,000 miles annually with tires under-inflated by 10 PSI wastes 190 gallons of fuel at a cost of $750 per year. More importantly, under-inflated tires contribute to over 600 fatalities and 33,000 injuries annually, according to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The RMA survey also found that 64% of drivers do not know how to determine if their tires are worn and need to be replaced. Worn tires can be especially dangerous under wet conditions and can significantly increase the likelihood of an accident.

Dan Zielinski, RMA senior VP of public affairs said, "Tire Van offers a very unique capability to deliver care information directly to consumers.  We are grateful for their efforts and their willingness to partner with RMA."

TireVan is the largest and fastest-growing mobile tire business in the United States.  TireVan provides mobile tire service throughout Washington and Philadelphia metropolitan areas. TireVan offers car owners the convenience of mobile tire installation at home or work, a full selection of major tire brands, and great prices that save car owners money.
