FYI: Chrysler Buyer's Guide

BOSTON--August 2, 2011: During a recent user evaluation of the Chrysler Uconnect infotainment system, consumers were impressed with the ease of locating and accessing phone, radio, navigation, and Sirius TravelLink features. Consumers saw Sirius TravelLink, which allows drivers to access weather, local fuel prices, local movie theaters, and news and sports information, as very compelling. The recent Strategy Analytics Automotive Consumer Insights benchmark report, "Chrysler Uconnect Makes Feature Discoverability Simple," evaluates the user experience for entertainment, navigation, and other features of the new Chrysler Uconnect.

“Voice interfaces are particularly important for these types of complex tasks”

"At Strategy Analytics, we consistently find that simply locating features such as music and navigation is a major barrier to usability," commented Chris Schreiner, Director of the Automotive Consumer Insights (ACI) service. "Chrysler Uconnect provides a menu bar that is always available that makes it easy for drivers to access the features they want."

While the touchscreen was compelling, and allowed users to easily access features, the Uconnect system fell short with its voice interface, which was not available for navigation or music functions on the 2011 Dodge Journey with an integrated Garmin navigation system.

"Voice interfaces are particularly important for these types of complex tasks," according to Kevin Nolan, Vice President of the Strategy Analytics User Experience Practice. "Uconnect must introduce this capability in order for consumers to be able to safely interact with music and navigation features while driving."
