PITTSBURGH-- Aug. 17, 2011: Pittsburgh-based Liberty Tire Recycling, the premier provider of tire recycling services in the United States, will underscore the features and benefits of rubberized asphalt at the upcoming 2011 Annual Meeting of the Southeastern Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (SASHTO). The company is serving as an exhibitor at the show (Booth #15), which will take place from August 20-24 at The Galt House Hotel & Suites in Louisville, KY.  More than 1,000 transportation officials will be in attendance to showcase their materials, technology and professional services.

"Municipalities across the country are constantly facing shrinking budgets and are looking for ways to trim costs while still maintaining proper treatment of their roads," said Jeff Kendall, CEO of Liberty Tire Recycling.  "At Liberty Tire Recycling, we are pleased to have a presence at SASHTO to demonstrate how rubberized asphalt offers value to cities and towns.  It is an eco-friendly, cost-effective alternative to traditional paving material."

Liberty Tire Recycling is helping to make many of the nation's highways and roadways safer and more durable through the creation of rubberized asphalt.  The company provides crumb rubber to a host of municipalities and states.  Paving contractors then mix the crumb rubber with traditional asphalt to produce a high-performance alternative to traditional paving materials.  Rubberized asphalt resists cracking and rutting, it improves skid resistance, and it makes for a quieter ride.  It also decreases maintenance costs and provides an outlet for scrap tires that may have otherwise ended up in a landfill.

The Southeastern Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (SASHTO) was established to encourage a balanced transportation system across the southeast United States. The departments of transportation from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia are the member states of SASHTO.   The organization works to study the various materials, methods of construction and maintenance, discusses common problems experienced with transportation facilities, and works to exchange ideas and evaluate programs within the aviation, highway, rail, transit and water modes of transportation.
