GOODWOOD, UNITED KINGDOM – Sept 15, 2011: This week’s Goodwood Revival (16-18 September) will be a shopper’s paradise for lovers of vintage fashion and authentic products of the Revival era (1948-1966). A large cast of High Street favourites from the period will be present, including Tesco, Kenwood, DeLonghi, Biba and Vivien of Holloway, as well as an extensive Revival Market, offering a huge choice clothes and automobilia. The Goodwood Revival market boosts some of the best names on the vintage scene, from the Ministry of Britishness, to Vanilla Vintage, Browne & Daughters to Laura Kashden; with over 100 stores, there’s something for everyone.

Most Revival visitors go to great lengths to dress in period style and achieve that authentic look. The resulting step-back-in-time spectacle plays a key role in making the Revival such a unique event. While not required to dress up (unless visitors ‘qualify’ for central Paddock access, in which case a jacket and tie is necessary for gentlemen, and a dress or suit for the ladies), Revival spectators feel much more involved in their tweeds and trilbies, and frills and frocks at the biggest motor racing party of the year.

The Revival High Street has a period Tesco supermarket that brings back memories of the big old boxes of Daz and the rows of Campbell’s tomato soup, as well as Green Shield Stamps and the spectacular glamour of the check-out assistants. Tesco shoppers can return to the early 1960s shopping experience at the Revival as they step across the aisles and back in time at Tesco’s replica store. The doors of the 1,700sqft supermarket swing open at 7:30 on the morning of the 16th September, with the return of Marathon bars, Treats, Opal Fruits, and many other products, all available to buy in their authentic packaging from the period.

Kenwood will also be taking a step back in time to the 1940s where meals from a budget were the order of the day, and ‘Corned Beef Hash’ was an all too familiar dish on many tables across Britain. Other classic dishes from the era include ‘Peppermint creams’ and ‘Apple Jelly’. Fast forward in time to the 1960s where ‘Quick Party Food’ recipes ruled, dishes include ‘Fresh Fruit Salad’ ‘Scandinavian Canapés’ and even ‘Chicken Kievs’. All of all these great recipes will be whipped up by a variety of guest Chefs in a replica 1940s and 1960s kitchen.

DeLonghi will recreate the cult 2i's Cafe Bar, a coffee bar and basement gig venue at 59 Old Compton Street, Soho, between 1956 and 1967. The 2i's was owned by Paul Lincoln, an Australian wrestler and wrestling promoter and its name was derived from earlier owners, two brothers named Irani. Just like the Soho bar, DeLonghi’s 2i cafe bar will be serving great coffee and top entertainment.

For the ladies, Biba was a leading 1960s fashion brand and will be offering its styling range from its Revival High Street shop. Biba began life as a small mail-order company, and opened its first store on Abingdon Road, Kensington in 1964. A legion of fans and celebrities followed quickly and the logo soon became synonymous with the coolest fashionistas. Biba closed its doors in 1975, but the fashion brand was re-launched in 2010 by House of Fraser and the Goodwood Revival celebrates the return of this iconic 60’s brand with a special Biba store.

For girls seeking more of a 1950s look, life-long Fifties lifestyle and fashion enthusiast, Vivien began sewing vintage-style clothes for herself at a mere ten years old. You can be transformed into a cheesecake pin-up, a femme fatale, a saucy Mad Men-era office girl, or a WWII working girl. Their clothes are proudly made in the UK and are loved by well-dressed women (and men!) across the globe; from rockabilly gals and swing dancers, to re-enactors and even celebrities! Vivien of Holloway will have stylish store on the High Street at the Goodwood Revival.

Over the road at the Revival, the legendary US off-road vehicle marque Jeep will have an American diner, whilst opposite the Glam Cabs rank, the famed holiday resort Butlin’s will celebrate its 75th anniversary in the Regency Ballroom with plenty of fun family entertainment, with authentic Redcoats and regular special ‘anniversary’ shows from the era.
