AUBURN HILLS, MI--Oct. 11, 2011: The Chrysler Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Chrysler Group LLC, today announced a donation of $25,000 to AGAPE Love from Above to Our Community in support of flood disaster relief and recovery efforts. AGAPE, a Bloomsburg, Penn.-based volunteer organization, has led efforts to assist residents affected by record flooding as the result of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to the residents of Bloomsburg and Columbia County," said Jody Trapasso, President -- The Chrysler Foundation. "AGAPE and its volunteers have worked tirelessly to get people back on their feet and into their homes. The Chrysler Foundation is proud to support AGAPE's efforts."

Earlier this year, the Foundation provided support for disaster relief efforts in some of the hardest-hit regions of the United States.

"What is wonderful about this large donation is that they contacted us and offered. And we, of course, accepted," said Eileen Chapman, Executive Director of AGAPE. "We are grateful that The Chrysler Foundation recognizes small communities, such as ours, that are facing overwhelming tragedies."

About AGAPE Love From Above to Our Community

AGAPE is a 100 percent volunteer, faith-based organization. Its ongoing mission is to "fill in the gaps" which currently exist between people in need throughout the Bloomsburg, Penn. area and the human services available to assist them.

Following the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Lee, AGAPE answered the call to help serve the community. Flood relief assistance was offered in the form of meals for flood victims and flood-relief volunteers; cleaning supplies; fans; and other items necessary to help those who lost everything. Those affected by the flood were also helped directly by the hundreds of volunteers that AGAPE organized into teams to go out and help with mud-outs, debris removal and disinfection.

About The Chrysler Foundation

The Chrysler Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Chrysler Group LLC, was established in 1953 as a nonprofit entity, which has the sole purpose of enriching the physical, educational and cultural needs of its communities, including arts and culture, education, diversity, youth development and disaster relief.

In the past year, the Foundation provided support for tsunami relief efforts in Japan; tornado relief efforts in Dundee, Mich., and Perrysburg, Ohio; and earthquake relief in Haiti. The Foundation has also supported flood relief and cleanup programs in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 2008; wildfire disaster relief in San Diego in 2007; and Hurricane Katrina aid in 2005. Many of these initiatives also involved volunteer and in-kind support from Chrysler Group employees, retirees and dealers.
