WICHITA, KS--Nov. 1, 2011: Universal Lubricants-- one of the oldest lubricant manufacturing and distribution companies in the United States-- announced today that it has been certified by Ford Motorcraft's Bulk Oil Inspection and Shell's Distributor Product Quality Assurance Program (DPQA), two of the industry's most stringent national audits for bulk lubricant handling and packaging.

"Both Motorcraft's and Shell's DPQA inspection programs assure that a handler's bulk oil and lubricant packaging processes go above and beyond industry standards. By meeting rigorous criterion in over 120 areas, Universal Lubricants has shown that our procedures, sampling facilities, records and total lubricant handling robustly maintains product integrity, throughout the entire chain of custody," said Gene Bowden, the company's vice president of operations. "In effect, these audits attest to the high benchmark of expectation that Universal Lubricants sets for itself, in turn positioning the company as a trusted partner to two of the industry's most reputable brands."

Originally founded in 1929, the company still continues its tradition of compounding, packaging and distributing quality petroleum products throughout the country. With an unwavering commitment to excellence, Universal Lubricants has proudly supported its major brand partners for over 50 years.

Today, Universal Lubricants has become the Midwest's trusted leader in used oil collection and new oil distribution, offering an array of products including high-quality engine oils and a diverse line of hydraulic oils, gear oils, transmission and tractor fluids, greases and coolants. Products from Universal Lubricants are engineered and manufactured specifically for all areas of industry, including heavy-duty construction, agriculture, long-haul, trucking, mining manufacturing, and mass transit.

"At Universal Lubricants, we are proud of our three-quarter century track record of meeting demands for lubricant performance and responsibility. We are incredibly pleased to now crown that track record with both Motorcraft and Shell DPQA certifications," added John Wesley, the company's chief executive officer.

About Universal Lubricants
Since its founding in 1929, Universal Lubricants has balanced tradition with innovation to emerge over the past four decades as the American leader in used oil collection, new oil refining and distribution. Unlike other companies that simply bottle re-refined oil, Universal Lubricants collects, refines, blends and re-distributes its own engine oil--never losing guardianship within the chain--to ensure that every quart, every gallon is of the highest quality for optimal performance. The only "closed-loop" provider of recycled motor oil, Universal Lubricants boasts a national presence, supplying ECO ULTRA throughout the country by operating 28 facilities in 14 states, including one of the world's most technologically advanced re-refineries in Wichita, Kansas. Altogether, the company employs 380 American workers and is a Pegasus Capital Advisors portfolio company.

A leader in R&D and in the marketplace, Universal Lubricants will continue to drive progress and drive performance in the motor oil industry.
