LONDON--November 29, 2011:

Carrentals.co.uk Launches Road Sense Safety Campaign with Brake to Help

Raise Awareness for Dangers on the Road

Car hire [http://www.carrentals.co.uk ] comparator Carrentals.co.uk has teamed up with road safety charity Brake to launch its 2011 Road Sense campaign, designed to encourage all drivers to take greater care on Britain's roads.

Road Sense this year focuses on the issue of drivers cutting back on vital motoring checks to help them save money, despite the potentially dangerous consequences this can incur.

Gareth Robinson, Managing Director of Carrentals.co.uk, says: "A lot of road traffic incidents are preventable and by making vital motoring checks to your vehicle this will increase your safety, especially in the most difficult of driving seasons."

According to Brake, road crashes are the biggest killer of young people often as a result of driving too fast or overtaking. Young drivers are involved in a huge proportion of road casualties, due to a combination of inexperience and a tendency of many young people to take risks. One in eight licence holders in Britain is under 25, yet one in four fatal and serious injury crashes involves a driver in this age group.

"This is the sixth year we have run our Road Sense campaign, and each year we try to encourage drivers to drive more responsibly and safely," adds Gareth. "It is vital that we all act on the advice given by organisations such as Brake to help increase road safety and prevent fatal road incidents from taking place."

Katie Shephard, director at Brake, says: "We are delighted that Carrentals.co.uk is promoting its Road Sense campaign again this year to help to get the message across that we can all play a part in making roads safer. Through Road Safety Week this year, Brake is appealing for action to tackle the devastating crashes and casualties that happen every day involving young people and young drivers. Brake is calling on young drivers - and drivers of all ages - to 'have a heart at the wheel': to show compassion, acknowledge they have lives in their hands, and pledge to drive safely."

The Road Sense website provides advice on how to stay safe on the roads and a range of offers, including discounts on winter clothing and reflective gear for children and adults from Outdoor Look and BrightKidz.
