TravelCenters of America Takes the Chore out of Doing Laundry with New High Tech Equipment

WESTLAKE, OH--December 21, 2011: TravelCenters of America LLC (TravelCenters) announced today that it has begun its rollout of the most modern laundry facility equipment on the highway.

“We've taken a chore and made it simpler and more efficient. Not only will these advanced machines shorten the time it takes a guest to do a load of laundry, the new systems should also increase the availability of machines for all of our guests.”

TravelCenters' 190 laundry rooms in company-operated locations today contain nearly 2,000 washers and dryers; all of these machines are expected to be replaced with new washers and dryers before the end of March 2012. At 98% of these locations, TravelCenters will add a laundry payment station to provide customers the optional convenience of paying with credit or debit cards, in addition to the traditional cash payment option. The payment station can notify drivers via text message when their washer and dryer cycles are completed. The rollout of the new machines and related systems will coincide with the addition or replacement of folding tables, hanging racks and other equipment.

Tom O'Brien, TravelCenters' President and CEO, said, "We've taken a chore and made it simpler and more efficient. Not only will these advanced machines shorten the time it takes a guest to do a load of laundry, the new systems should also increase the availability of machines for all of our guests."

During the 30 days after the new machines are installed at each TA and Petro location, guests who use the credit or debit card payment feature will be able to do their laundry at promotional rates. Signs will be placed in the laundry rooms during the promotional period.
