Gracenote MoodGrid Will be Demonstrated in a Next-Generation Navigation and Infotainment System from Garmin International at CES

LAS VEGAS--Jan. 10, 2012: CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW (CES) -- Gracenote® and Garmin International have teamed to demonstrate Gracenote MoodGrid in Garmin's "Everest" OEM navigation and infotainment system this week at CES 2012. Gracenote MoodGrid offers an intuitive way for drivers and passengers to navigate music collections on the open road with technology that lets them find and play songs to match their mood. Demonstrations are available at the Gracenote Booth in the South Hall #31106.

Gracenote MoodGrid provides a smart alternative to scrolling through hundreds or even thousands of songs in music collections. MoodGrid visually describes the emotional attributes of music, from "calm" to "energetic" and "dark" to "positive." These mood characteristics are mapped to songs in the driver's personal music collection, organized by their moods, and displayed on a graphical grid in the Garmin user interface. With "one-touch" to the MoodGrid, drivers can launch a playlist to match how they are feeling.

"Being able to pinpoint what type of music people want to hear based on their mood is a must have for music services and automakers," said Vadim Brenner, VP of product management, Gracenote. "Gracenote is dedicated to developing new ways for drivers to safely enjoy all of their music, and we are grateful to be teaming up to showcase MoodGrid with Garmin -- a company that recognizes the potential of this kind of technology to deliver a more personalized music experience."
