"Promoting safe driving remains a central issue at GEICO," said Tony Nicely, GEICO chairman. "This year's national winners clearly visualized the importance of safe driving and that helps us spread a powerful message."

GEICO invited students in grades 1-12 to design a poster from among three different safety themes: the importance of wearing safety belts; no texting while driving; and staying focused to prevent distracted driving. Students between the ages of 14-18 submitted videos that captured the importance of vehicle safety.

Serving as judges for this year's competition were Laurel Sims of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration; Alexandra Holiday from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety; and Chris Noel of Particle, a graphic design firm. Each winner received a cash prize. Each winning poster and video is prominently displayed on the GEICO Safety Poster and Video Contest website.
