Nation's Largest Ethnic Credit Union Marks 35th Anniversary By Giving Away a Treasure Trove of Prizes To Dozens of Members

BROOKLYN, NY--June 25, 2012 -- Years of fiscally sound investments and conservative spending by the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union paid off for 35 members recently, as the nation's largest ethnic credit union opened up its vault and helped spread the wealth by handing out an impressive array of prizes -- ranging from a new Ford Escape SUV to flat screen HDTVs -- as part of its 35th anniversary celebration.

A total of 35 jaw-dropping prizes were handed out during the credit union's anniversary celebration at the Brooklyn gallery of the Polish and Slavic Center. The Brooklyn-based Polish and Slavic Center, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, was one of the original sponsors of the PSFCU, and whose members and management founded the ethnic credit union in 1976.

To mark its 35th anniversary milestone the PSFCU decided to shower its members with such desirable prizes as 46-inch Sony HDTV sets, Dell Vostro laptop computers, Apple iPad 2s, Sony HD camcorders and Sony Blu-Ray Home Theater systems. The grand prize was a 2012 Ford Escape Ltd Hybrid SUV.

Members were enrolled automatically in the 35th Anniversary Grand Prize Drawing when reaching certain membership benchmarks, or when using various PSFCU products or services throughout the year. Those who were not automatically enrolled in the contest could enter at local branches or online.

"These amazing prizes are made possible by the highly efficient and conservative financial approach we have taken since day one," said Marzena Wierzbowska, PSFCU Board of Directors' Chairperson. "And from the beginning, we have built this credit union on the belief that we must always give back to the community. These prizes to the members certainly are proof of our appreciation of their loyalty and trust for our organization."

On hand to help award the 35th anniversary prizes were the PSFCU board of directors, members of the Polish and Slavic Center, and Ewa Lewandowska, finalist in the Polish television show Poland's Got Talent.

While other banks and financial institutions have struggled lately, the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union continues to prosper, and continues to give back to its members. Most recently, the credit union announced it had topped nearly $1.5 billion in assets, had $1.2 billion in members' deposits and continues to offer competitive rates. It has also contributed more than $2.4 million in college scholarships over the years to members and children of members.

"We splurged a bit on these prizes, but it was well worth it," said Marzena Wierzbowska. "They will be enjoyed tremendously by the winning members. They should benefit for their trust and commitment. We're fortunate to be able to reward our members in such a way, and we'll continue to build on this formula so that more and more will be able to share in this success."
