LOS ANGELES--November 29, 2012: Dassault Systemes (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), the 3DEXPERIENCE Company, world leader in 3D design software, 3D Digital Mock Up and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, today announced that its 3DEXPERIENCE platform's CATIA application was used in the development of the majority of vehicle debuts -- both worldwide and North American -- at the 2012 LA Auto Show. Dassault Systemes, a sponsor of the LA Auto Show Design Challenge, revolutionized vehicle development through digitalization of design processes. Originally adopted by pioneering automakers in 1982, CATIA and other applications, including ENOVIA, DELMIA, 3DVIA, and SIMULIA, continue to be at the forefront of product development innovation. CATIA firmly maintains its position as the leading automotive design and engineering application and continues evolving to better meet industry trends.

“It is no longer enough to just focus on offering a CAD or PLM solution”

Today's automakers are faced with multiple challenges, including increasing vehicle complexity due to aggressive emission standards, rising use of embedded technologies and globalization. To address these trends, Dassault Systemes 3DEXPERIENCE platform offers an integrated, multi-disciplinary approach to product development where all engineering domains and solutions are linked together in a common and dynamic platform.

Dassault Systemes' 3DEXPERIENCE platform and its industry solution experiences are comprehensive solutions comprised of multiple applications that can be implemented in a modular approach and directly targeted at specific industry trends. Dassault Systemes' most recent automotive industry solution experience, "Smart, Safe & Connected Car," assists automakers in meeting the demands of increasing vehicle complexity due to burgeoning electronics and software usage, helping accelerate development of embedded systems while achieving ISO26262 safety standards and AUTOSAR compliancy.

"It is no longer enough to just focus on offering a CAD or PLM solution," said Al Bunshaft, Managing Director, North America, Dassault Systemes. "Our 3DEXPERIENCE platform creates intelligent virtual products that allow customers to test form, behavior and interactions inclusive of consumer emotion and preferences. This allows the industry to make critical decisions earlier in the vehicle development process, helping deliver cars that people truly desire, while meeting cost and quality targets."

Visitors to the LA Auto Show can experience the power of Dassault Systemes' 3DEXPERIENCE platform through live demonstrations at the CATIA Design CafeŠ in room #511A, featuring CATIA for Creative Designers. Designers can take a Test Drive of the CATIA unified industrial design workflow applications, including Natural Sketch for drawing concepts directly in 3D, Imagine & Shape for ultra-fast 3D concept models, and instantaneous Live Rendering with physically correct photorealistic visualization. These demonstrations are powered by the latest hardware technology from NVIDIA for graphics processing, and Wacom for sketching excellence.
