San Francisco--March 1, 2013: Porsche is recalling 2,263 of its 2012-2013 model year 911 Carrera and Carrera 4 cars because of the problem with the exhaust pipe system because they might shatter and then fall off of the rear muffler. This recall just affects cars with the standard exhaust systems that were built in from March 7-November 12, 2012. Sport exhausts are not affected.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website said on its website that the problem could cause a crash and poses a danger to other vehicles.

Porsche's safety recall number is AD01. Porsche can be contacted at (800) 767-7243. Other information is available at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at (888) 327-4236 (TTY 800-424-9153), or go to Safer Car .
