The 83rd Geneva International Motor Show: A world of light charged with emotions!

GENEVA--March 10, 2013: As is the case each year, a large and impatient crowd of visitors awaited the official opening of the Geneva International Motor Show. Upon the arrival of the President of the Swiss Confederation and the President of the Council of the State of Geneva, the halls were already crawling with visitors. In his speech, Mr. Ueli Maurer emphasized the key role and influence of the automobile on both the economy and on society in general. Following that, Mr. Charles Beer, President of the Council of the State of Geneva underlined the importance of the automobile industry, especially in the creation of employment. Mr. Maurice Turrettini, President of the Geneva Motor Show vigorously supported the initiative of the Association of Swiss Car Importers “auto-schweiz” that requires political authorities to devote the tax revenues generated by their industry to the development of road and highway infrastructures. During his visit to the stands the President of the Swiss Confederation shook many hands and displayed remarkable enthusiasm and energy.

As of Sunday night, 4 days after the opening, the Motor Show had already registered more than 300,000 entries. There is still one week remaining to discover the latest new models and developments presented by the exhibiting manufacturers.

The Geneva Future Mobility Forum is a series of conferences on the political, technological, business/economic, and motorsport aspects of the automobile world. These conferences are presented every day at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the Palexpo Congress Centre, Room K. They are free for all visitors to the Motor Show and no inscription is necessary. The presentations are tailored to the general public and they enable participants to better understand the importance and impact of this industry. The speakers, who are all specialists in their fields, will present topics that are interesting and easy to understand for everyone.
