Collaboration with AAMA will offer membership benefits featuring complimentary access and significant discounts to tools and training for improving quality and processes

SOUTHFIELD, MI--April 17, 2013:  AIAG, the not-for-profit, member-supported organization that helps automotive companies operate at peak performance, has joined forces with the Alabama Automotive Manufacturers Association (AAMA) to give Alabama automotive companies easier access to tools and training for educating their workforce, increasing quality and improving costs. The collaboration grants a complimentary one-year membership in AIAG for AAMA members not currently affiliated with AIAG to help boost transformational quality and process improvement initiatives in the Alabama automotive supply chain.

"The automotive industry is greatly expanding its manufacturing footprint in Southern states like Alabama, and it is imperative that we provide this new generation of automotive companies access to the 'know-how' and 'know-who' they will need to be successful," said J. Scot Sharland, executive director of AIAG.

"AIAG brings benefits to the table that our members cannot get anywhere else, putting them in the best position to compete and grow in the global automotive market," said Lew Drummond, Executive Director of AAMA.

AIAG is in its fourth decade of bringing together automotive companies large and small to work collectively and collaboratively to improve industry standards, streamline processes and develop common business practices.  A membership in AIAG allows companies to learn and adopt best practices and standards in the areas of corporate responsibility, supply chain management and quality. The value offered will help companies better meet a multinational corporation's performance expectations and serve the global market.

An AIAG membership includes:

  • Online tools for self-assessment of quality issues and e-learning to correct them
  • Online tools to assess the knowledge gap and where additional training is needed
  • Cost of poor quality calculating tool
  • Materials Management (MMOG/LE) e-learning
  • Global Working Conditions e-learning
  • Chemical Awareness e-learning
  • Significant discounts on AIAG publications and Core Tools documents, training and events

In addition, all AIAG members have the opportunity to provide a voice in the establishment of global standards and guidelines that impact the global supply chain by serving on project teams and committees. Any company whose employee participates as a project volunteer is provided unlimited access to publications produced by that volunteer's work group (including translations in local languages) for its employees worldwide.

AAMA members must enroll with AIAG to receive the complimentary 12-month AIAG membership. The membership period begins at the time of enrollment, and the offer is available until December 31, 2013.
