CAMPBELL, Calif.--April 22, 2013: In celebration of Earth Day 2013, ChargePoint, Inc. the largest network of electric vehicle charging stations, today announced it has teamed with BMW's premium, electric car sharing program DriveNow to showcase the benefits of electric vehicles and EV charging in the workplace. ChargePoint's EV charging stations will be showcased and test drives of the fully-electric BMW ActiveE will be offered on the Bay Area campuses of leading Silicon Valley companies including Microsoft for Earth Day events.

There are more than 11,000 ChargePoint EV charging spots worldwide and more than 1700 organizations now provide EV charging in the workplace. Public ChargePoint locations are included on all ChargePoint mobile phone applications for iPhone and Android. These mobile apps provide an easy way to locate stations near any specified address, get turn-by-turn directions, and even start and stop a charging session directly from a smart phone. Additionally, these apps allow drivers to utilize ChargePoint Network's station reservation feature. Drivers can locate reservable stations, and then make, view and cancel a reservation directly from a smart phone.
Launched in August 2012, DriveNow is a flexible, premium car-sharing program offering the opportunity to drive BMW's first all-electric vehicle, the BMW ActiveE with zero emission driving. The fleet of 70 ActiveE vehicles is located at multiple DriveNow Stations around San Francisco, The East Bay, Oakland International Airport, Palo Alto and the San Francisco International Airport. After registering online, customers locate and book an available car using the DriveNow web site or mobile app. They then return the car to the same -- or any other -- DriveNow Station, allowing for convenient one-way trips, if desired. Stations are located around the city, close to BART, MUNI and bike-sharing stations. In celebration of Earth Day DriveNow is offering 50% off of membership.
