SAN FRANCISCO--June 26, 2013: As the industry prepares for fall's auto show season--with three major shows scheduled for November and early chatter that automakers such as Porsche, Nissan, and Cadillac will unveil exciting new models--Jumpstart Automotive Group released its 2012 -- 2013 post-auto show roundup. Jumpstart analyzed online auto shopping trends across the company's portfolio of sites--household names in the automotive industry that include Car and Driver, U.S. News Automotive, JD Power Autos, and NADAguides--to reveal which vehicles resonated most with shoppers.
“Domestic auto brands raced out of the gate this year and continue to do well across Jumpstart's sites”
Los Angeles and Detroit (NAIAS) drove overall traffic across Jumpstart Automotive Group's portfolio of sites while New York and Chicago drove traffic to specific vehicles. The Chevrolet Spark EV gained a 94% increase in interest at the Los Angeles show. Toyota grabbed an 80% increase in interest at the Chicago show with its redesigned Tundra. And Land Rover's Range Rover Sport experienced a 94% increase at New York after James Bond actor, Daniel Craig, unveiled the vehicle by cruising around the Manhattan streets.
For this study, share of shopper interest was measured by looking at the percent of people visiting a brand's make/model pages during the show and in the three weeks prior. This number was then compared to the total number of visitors to Jumpstart's portfolio of digital publishers.
"Domestic auto brands raced out of the gate this year and continue to do well across Jumpstart's sites," said Libby Murad-Patel, Jumpstart's Senior Director of Strategic Insights. "We're also seeing renewed interest in the Truck and SUV segments. Brands in these segments that generated noteworthy online traffic increases this auto show season were Land Rover, Jeep, and Ram. The full Jumpstart report reveals all of this year's top auto show brands."
