Driver Andrea Mamé Killed In Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Race

Castellet, June 30, 2013; Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Paul Ricard - Statement 1: It is with great sadness that Automobili Lamborghini confirmed that a fatal accident occurred to driver Andrea Mamé in the first Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race at Paul Ricard this morning.

Immediately following the start of the first race at 0920hrs this morning, a serious first lap accident involving five competitors caused the race to be red-flagged.

Medical and safety teams were immediately on the scene to attend to the cars involved.

All five drivers were taken to the medical centre for assessment.

Driver Andrea Mamé of car #11 sustained serious injuries to which he later succumbed, despite the emergency medical care administered at the medical centre.

On behalf of Automobili Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann expressed his personal sadness and extended the condolences of all the company to Andrea's family and team.

Automobili Lamborghini will be working with the circuit authorities and SRO to investigate the accident thoroughly in all its aspects.

A further statement with an update on the other drivers involved in the incident will be issued in due course.

Statement 2 - Le Castellet, June 30, 2013. Following the tragic events that resulted in a fatal accident for Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo driver Andrea Mamé this morning, Automobili Lamborghini confirmed that it would be cancelling all of its racing activities at Paul Ricard in his memory.

Accordingly, the second Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race has been cancelled with the unanimous support of Andrea's fellow competitors. Additionally, the two Lamborghini GT3's #24 and #125 of Blancpain Racing driven by Marc A. Hayek, Peter Kox, Albert von Thurn und Taxis, Stefan Rosina and Jos Menten will not participate in the Blancpain Endurance Series race this afternoon.

The four other drivers who received medical attention following the accident were Andrea Solimè, car #10, Vaclav Petch, car #77, Tomas Kral, car #88 and Dario Cerati, car #33.

Vaclav Petch, Tomas Kral and Dario Cerati were released from the medical centre after precautionary checks.

Andrea Solimè was airlifted to the Hopital Sainte Musse in Toulon where he is conscious and talking, with no fractures or visible injuries, but his condition will continue to be monitored by doctors for the rest of the day.

Andrea Mamé was a passionate, competitive and immensely popular driver who had been a mainstay of Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo racing for the past two seasons. Automobili Lamborghini's immediate priority is to support Andrea's family at this difficult time.

An update concerning Andrea Solimè's condition will be issued in due course.

STATEMENT 3 Le Castellet, June 30, 2013. Following his accident in this morning's Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race at the Paul Ricard circuit, Autocarrozzeria Imperiale driver Andrea Solimè was airlifted to the Sainte Musse Hospital in Toulon to be attended by doctors for a number of injuries. Andrea is conscious and according to the doctors treating him, his overall condition is satisfactory and he will remain under observation for the time being. A further update will be issued in due course.
