WASHINGTON, July 11, 2013: Brian Wynne, President of the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA), issued the following statement in response to today's passage of H.R. 2609, the Fiscal Year 2014 Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act:

"Recognizing the challenging budgetary environment, we are nevertheless disappointed in the House Energy and Water funding measure, which would undermine progress toward energy and environmental security, as well economic competitiveness by recommending crippling cuts in the advanced vehicle research and development programs, including the Department of Energy's (DOE) Vehicle Technologies, Hydrogen and Fuel Cells and ARPA-E accounts.

We appreciate the efforts of many members to restore funding to these critical programs, and EDTA looks forward to working with both the House and Senate to ensure that DOE can continue to work effectively with the private sector to achieve our national goals for energy security."
