2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick+

Arlington Va August 1, 2013; The 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander, a small SUV, earns the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award for good performance in the small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, rollover and rear crash evaluations as did the 2013 model.

Mitsubishi redesigned the Outlander for 2014. The new model is only 1 of 2 small SUVs to earn a good rating in the small overlap front test. The other is the 2014 Subaru Forester. In addition to designing the new Outlander to do well in the small overlap front test, Mitsubishi improved rollover protection in the SUV to earn a good rating for roof strength. The 2014 model's roof withstood a force equal to nearly 5 times the SUV's weight. The previous generation Outlander earned an acceptable rating for roof strength.

The 2013 model Outlander Sport earned the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ designation earlier this year.
