Electric car shoppers discover significant tax savings with Bill Jacobs Joliet

JOLIET, IL--Aug. 20, 2013: Initial cost is one of the most common deterrents drivers face when considering entering the realm of alternative fuel vehicles. Despite the fuel savings and eco-friendliness, many drivers hesitate to make a major financial commitment to an unfamiliar mode of transportation. Bill Jacobs Joliet and Chevrolet are working to alleviate those concerns with a major price cut and available tax savings on the new Chevy Volt.

Bill Jacobs Joliet is campaigning to help its Illinois customers understand and uncover the substantial state and federal tax savings that are available to them. While savings will vary from one Chevy Volt owner to another, federal tax credits of up to $7,500 are available. Additionally, Illinois Volt owners can recover a larger portion of the Chevy Volt though state tax rebates of up to nearly $4,000. By simply filling out the necessary forms and understanding the submission requirements available online, the initial cost of the 2013 Chevy Volt becomes rather affordable.

In addition to the tax savings, Chevy recently announced it is slashing the price of the Chevy Volt by $5,000. With the previously mentioned tax credits, the Volt's price sticker looks more like the run-of-the-mill mid-size sedan rather than a high-priced EV.

The Chevy Volt is a pleasant middle ground between hybrids and electric cars, as Chevy classifies it as an extended-range EV. With a battery range of 38 miles as well as a gas-powered 1.4-liter engine, the Chevy Volt offers drivers more confidence with a much lengthier driving range than the average EV. Illinois also has a growing number of EV charging stations, which helps drivers maintain enough charge for daily commutes.

While Bill Jacobs Joliet is working to bring more attention to the world of EVs, it also is reaching the other end of the automotive spectrum with an upcoming Hooked on Driving event. Through the Bill Jacobs Driving Experience, the Chevy dealer is hosting a day at the Autobahn Country Club track in Joliet for performance car drivers with a need for speed. The Oct. 7 event benefits the National Corvette Museum. Visit the event's page to find out more details about the upcoming day at the track.
