AUBURN HILLS, MI--Oct. 16, 2013: GKN Driveline innovative advanced All-Wheel Drive Disconnect System is nominated for a 2014 PACE award.

GKN Driveline launched the advanced GKN All-Wheel Drive Disconnect System behind the 2014 Range Rover Evoque's 'Active Driveline' earlier this year. The innovative system monitors vehicle dynamics and automatically reconnects four-wheel drive (within 300 milliseconds) whenever it is needed.

GKN Driveline engineered the GKN All-Wheel Drive Disconnect System to improve fuel efficiency whilst retaining dynamic agility, enhanced traction and outstanding off-road performance.

The co-development of the Active Driveline contributes to the 2014 Range Rover Evoque's fuel consumption reduction of up to 11.4% (depending on model). The step change in vehicle efficiency and dynamic performance sets a new industry benchmark for this type of vehicle.

"We are delighted to receive this nomination" said Rob Rickell, Engineering Director GKN Driveline. "Engineering innovation is at the heart of GKN Driveline and our global teams work hard to push the boundaries of driveline technology"

The thirty four finalists for the highly competitive award were announced at the SAE global leadership conference this weekend. The award recognises game-changing innovation in the global automotive supply chain.

In the coming months, GKN Driveline will host a team of independent PACE judges, who are experts from industry, academia and business. The judges will evaluate the innovations for originality and market impact. Winners will be announced at the SAE World Congress week 2014.
