LONDON – Nov 22, 2013: At the end of November, a team of 2 highly-skilled dealer technicians representing Isuzu Truck in the UK, head off to Tokyo to compete in Isuzu’s week-long, World Technical Skills Competition. This is the third time ITUK has entered a team and this year the technicians will be facing competition from Isuzu distributors that come from 30 different countries around the world.

The two technicians selected for the UK team are Brian George from Imperial Commercials in Glasgow and Alan Cottingham from TIM Commercial Vehicle Services in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. Under the guidance, leadership and coaching skills of Tony Hicks, technical trainer at Isuzu Truck UK, the team is participating in this global skills competition that focuses on the technical skills and knowledge required when working within the Isuzu truck network.

The 3-man UK team flies out to Tokyo on Saturday November 23rd and as part of this annual event will be involved in theory and practical tests as well as simulations of vehicle problems for diagnosis, including assessment and rebuilding of units such as engines and transmissions.

“As always, it’s a huge honour for ITUK to be invited to participate in this global event. Every year the quality and standards required to be successful get higher and higher, as even more countries around the world participate for this prestigious award. We are sure that both Brian and Alan will be excellent ambassadors representing the UK dealer network,” commented Keith Child, marketing director, Isuzu Truck UK.
