Liuzhou--Nov 25, 2013: SAIC-GM-Wuling today launched the Wuling Rong Guang S minivan in China. Four variants are available at a starting price of RMB 44,600.

The Rong Guang S builds on the success of the original Rong Guang introduced in 2008. It offers additional sedan-like features and an upgraded exterior, interior, powertrains, handling, stiffness, comfort and safety.

The exterior of the Rong Guang S has sleek lines that not only give it a stylish look, but also help reduce air resistance. Its front end sports a smiling double U-shaped grille. In back, a “fatter” rear bumper adds a rugged feel while enhancing safety.

Its interior has popular amenities such as an integrated visor design and chrome-color surfaces. The steering wheel, center console panel and air-conditioning switch have a special finish, giving the minivan a refined and fashionable feel.

The Rong Guang S is the first minivan to adopt a cavity partition, which reduces air leakage by around 20 percent. The extensive use of thickened sound-absorbing materials in the ceiling, side skirts, carpet and other interior surfaces, coupled with an optimized driveline and body structure, provides a tranquil environment that no other vehicle in its segment can match.

The Rong Guang S is built on a redesigned chassis that was fine-tuned in the United Kingdom by Lotus Engineering. Its length of 4,135 mm, width of 1,660 mm, height of 1,870 mm and wheelbase of 2,700 mm provide a high level of stability as well as a roomy interior with a cargo capacity of 4,500L. The minivan is 40 mm closer to the ground than its sibling – making it easy to load and unload small and large items such as double sofas and mattresses – without compromising ground clearance.

The minivan comes with a choice of two small but powerful and economical engines: a 1.5L DVVT engine and a newly upgraded 1.2L engine.

The Rong Guang S has adopted four patented technologies that afford increased body stiffness and safety performance. Its integral-frame doors have high-strength steel side impact beams, making the doors more solid and durable. The front suspension has been extended by 85 mm for additional occupant protection in the event of a front-end collision. The minivan’s braking system has been upgraded with 10-inch brake boosters that deliver stronger braking force.
