Proton Launches Australia's Most Affordable Seven Seater

MELBOURNE – Dec 6, 2013: Malaysia’s leading car brand Proton has launched Australia’s most affordable seven-seater, the Exora.

Available in two models, the $25,990 drive away Exora GX and $27,990 drive away Exora GXR features an aerodynamic body, a spacious and flexible interior, a turbocharged 1.6 litre DOHC engine, CVT transmission and legendary Lotus engineering in its DNA.

Built at Proton’s Shah Alam, Malaysia’s plant, the Exora is packed with standard features including air conditioning for all three rows, a roof mounted DVD player, Radio CD/MP3 player with Bluetooth, steering wheel operated audio and phone controls, alloy wheels, map lights, rear fog light and a USB port playable through the DVD and Radio.

Both models have Dual front airbags, Dual side airbags (front row), drive and passenger Seat belt pre-tensioners, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, ABS brakes, Speed sensing door locks, reversing sensors in the GX and reversing camera in the GXR.

Powering the Exora range is the Charged Fuel Efficiency (CFE) 1.6 litre, DOHC, 16 valve, Campro engine that produces 103kW @ 5,000 rpm and 205Nm @ 2,000-4,000 rpm and runs on 91RON-unleaded fuel, delivering a combined 8.2L/100km (ADR 81/02). Both models have a six-speed CVT transmission.

Lotus, a subsidiary of Proton, had its suspension specialists work closely with the Exora’s engineers to tune the suspension providing a comfortable ride and excellent handling.

The 7-seater Exora’s layout of five doors with three rows of seats in a two, three, two configuration is the first Proton to be based on the P2 platform that was developed exclusively by Proton.

Large triangular headlights and a contoured front bumper give the Exora a striking frontal appearance while the full- length waistline helps create a lithe form. Complementing the design are 16” alloy wheels. To distinguish the two models, the Exora GXR also has daytime running lights; chrome exterior finishes and a rear spoiler.

The interior brings a new level of versatility and comfort to all occupants. The 7-seating layout has a split 60/40 second row seat and the 50/50 third row.

There are six exterior colours to choose from: Solid White, Latté Gold, Genetic Silver, Cocoa Grey, Plum Red, Tranquility Black

Interior colours are: Exora GX Grey cloth & Exora GXR Grey leather with brown highlights
