Like the entry model Prevé GX, the turbocharged GXR is Proton’s most technologically advanced four-door model that sets new standards in safety, performance, and comfort, quality, technology, design and ownership experience.

The Prevé GXR is for buyers wanting a sedan with more power and a sportier flavor, with the GXR’s driving dynamics enhanced by Lotus engineered ride and handling.

The Prevé GXR is feature packed with standard features including 6 Airbags, Bluetooth, iPod Connectivity, ABS with EBD, ESC, Lotus developed suspension for outstanding Ride & Handling, RESS bodyshell, Front Active Headrests, Multi Function Steering Wheel, Smart Info Display, auto headlights, auto rain sensing wipers, cruise control and engine push button start.

The Prevé range was designed as a global car - in line with PROTON’s goal of competing on a world stage. Beneath the skin of the Prevé range exists a high degree of meticulous engineering that has created a vehicle with world -class safety features plus a rewarding driving experience.

The heart of the Prevé GXR is a Charged Fuel Efficiency (CFE) 1.6 litre, DOHC, 16 valve, Campro engine that produces 103kW @ 5,000 rpm and 205Nm @ 2,000-4,000 rpm. It’s a low boost intercooled turbocharged engine with a maximum pressure of 0.75 bar (75 kPa; 10.9 psi) that runs on 91RON-unleaded fuel and delivers a combined 8.6L/100km (ADR 81/02).

Initially the Prevé GXR will be launched with a ProTronic seven-speed CVT transmission, but a six-speed manual will follow in the first quarter of 2014.

The chassis of the Prevé GXR has been designed for driving enjoyment, occupant safety and comfort, with MacPherson struts, coil springs and a stabiliser bar up front and at the rear, a multi link system with coil springs. The outstanding ride and handling is thanks the engineers at Proton owned Lotus, who provided the suspension specification for the Prevé range.

The Proton Prevé GXR has highest level of occupant protection, with a 5-star ANCAP safety rating.

It’s built using the Reinforced Safety Structure (RESS) body shell and advanced hot press forming, for ultra high tensile strength, making it more capable of absorbing impact force and is a technological first for Proton.

Other standard safety features include, Electronic Stability Control with brake assist that incorporates Traction Control. ABS with EBD, front seatbelt pre tensioners and active headrests and auto door locks, reversing sensors and active hazard lights that automatically switch on in the event of a collision or when sudden braking is detected from speeds above 90km/h.
