MISSISSAUGA, ON--Jan. 3, 2014: Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) announced today that it has set a stunning new all-time annual sales record. After achieving an all-time sales record in 2012, the bar was set high for 2013, yet Subaru completely outstripped its previous record of 31,003 units with a remarkable 36,760 units sold in 2013. By notching a year-to-date sales increase of 18.7 percent, Subaru has maintained its status as the fastest growing Japanese automaker in 2013.

Every region in Canada achieved its best ever annual sales. Quebec saw a 12.2 percent increase in 2013, the Western region increased its sales by 20.6 percent and Ontario shone with a 22.6 percent increase over 2012; however, the Atlantic region beat them all, with a year-over-year sales increase of an incredible 28.3 percent.

When it comes to individual models, the BRZ, Subaru's nimble, rear-wheel-drive sports coupe, took top honours in December, with sales up 61.1 percent over the same month last year. Putting the "Sport" back into SUV, the award-winning Forester sold 922 units, achieving a 51.1 percent sales increase over the same month last year. Not to be outdone, the XV Crosstrek, Canada's most fuel-efficient All-Wheel Drive compact crossover, increased its monthly sales by 19.7%.

"To realize that we have completely surpassed our sales record from 2012, and in such a decisive way, makes me very proud of the dealers and employees who give Subaru so much of their time, effort and enthusiasm," states Shiro Ohta, president and CEO of Subaru Canada, Inc. "Earning five Top Safety Pick and three Top Safety Pick+ awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety this year demonstrates our commitment to achieving a higher standard of safety. These four pillars of the Subaru brand - safety, value, performance and durability - attract more and more Canadians year over year, setting us on a path of continued growth."
