Launch of all-new SUVs marks GM's Arlington Assembly Plant’s 60th anniversary

ARLINGTON, TX--Feb. 15, 2014: Much has changed since the first car – a four-door black Pontiac Chieftain – rolled off its production line in 1954, but the General Motors Arlington Assembly Plant continues to stand the test of time, contributing economically to its community, the State of Texas and GM.

Arlington Assembly, which switched from car to truck assembly in 1997, is the only facility that builds GM’s award-winning, full-size SUVs – Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade. The SUVs now in production are all new and redesigned for the 2015 model year.
