There is no shortage of "Car of the Year" awards this time of year from magazines, analysts and other organizations but here's one you've probably not heard of.

The new for 2014 SRT Viper won the Future Collectible Vehicle of the Year award from the National Automotive History Collection. The NAHC is one of four "Special Collections" within the Detroit Public Library and one of the richest collections of automotive history in the world. Members of the NAHC Board of Trustees and members vote on the award with the criteria "what car would most be a head-turner at the Woodward Dream Cruise 25 years hence?" Eligible are cars that are all new or significantly changed for calendar 2013. That extensive list is then culled by a committee of the NAHC Board.

Board member emeritus Jack Harned, who managed the project for many years, presented the award to Ralph Giles, SRT's president and CEO, at their headquarters in Auburn Hills this week.
