LOS ANGELES--March 11, 2014: Carroll Shelby International is encouraging fans to celebrate DreamWorks Studio’s new film Need for Speed, which will honor Carroll Shelby and his legacy of high performance when it hits the silver screen on March 14, 2014.

“Shelby has long been a key part of the Need for Speed franchise, so we’re pleased to be part of their first movie”

The movie chronicles a near-impossible cross-country journey for the heroes in a car with deep Shelby ties, one that begins as a mission for revenge, but proves to be one of redemption. Working with DreamWorks Studios and Ford Motor Company, Carroll Shelby Licensing provided priceless vintage images and historically accurate facts during the film’s production to add to the depth of the plot.

“Shelby has long been a key part of the Need for Speed franchise, so we’re pleased to be part of their first movie,” said Neil Cummings, Co-CEO of Carroll Shelby International and CEO of Carroll Shelby Licensing. “The prominent inclusion of the Shelby name in this film shows that it is still revered for performance in the automotive world.”

The Need for Speed movie premiered on March 6 at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood and featured one of the cars from the movie, along with a 2015 Mustang on the red carpet. The modified 5.8L Mustang in the movie is said to have a strong connection to Carroll Shelby. It boasts the Shelby-inspired wide body package rolling on unique 22-inch alloy wheels. Other design elements include a larger lower grille with new air intakes, extended rocker panels, low-profile mirrors and a twin-snorkel hood. It sports custom silver paint with Kona Blue racing stripes.

“We enjoyed working with our friends at Ford Motor Company and DreamWorks to honor Carroll Shelby and his performance legacy, which continues today,” said Joe Conway, Co-CEO of Carroll Shelby International and CEO of Shelby American. “We supported their premiere by providing merchandise as part of the activation sponsored by Ford Mustang. We’re also using social media channels to encourage Shelby fans to see the movie when it opens this weekend.”
