BMW has once again taken home the two headline awards, Fleet Manufacturer of the Year and New Company Car of the Year, for the fourth year in a row at the annual Fleet News Awards.

As well as New Company Car of the Year, the BMW 5 Series Saloon also took the honour for Best Executive Car. Commended for its broad appeal and reduced running costs, the BMW 5 Series Saloon remains the driver’s car of choice in the fleet sector.

BMW UK was also named Green Fleet Manufacturer of the Year, an award that was bolstered by the announcement of the BMW i3 as Best Ultra-Low CO2 Car, following on from it recently being named UK Car of the Year 2014.

A panel made up of fleet industry experts, as well as senior members of the Fleet News editorial team, were involved in the lengthy judging process, chaired by former SMMT chief executive Christopher McGowan and audited by Deloitte. Both New Company Car of the Year and Fleet Manufacturer of the Year were voted for by readers too.

Fleet News editor-in-chief Stephen Briers said: “The BMW 5 Series has been freshened with a broader range of diesel versions which reduce running costs, but one thing that hasn’t changed is its peerless driver appeal. The 5 Series remains the benchmark in the sector.

“BMW continues to set the standard when it comes to providing a range of outstanding, low cost model backed with the excellent level of support needed to satisfy fleets. It remains the most desirable brand for both fleets and their drivers to have on their choice lists.”

Matt Bristow, Corporate Operations Manager for BMW Group, said: “To once again take home these prestigious awards is justification of the importance that BMW places on the fleet sector. With the introduction of the BMW i3, BMW has broadened its fleet offering and to have this recognised by the experts in the UK fleet market is a real honour.”
