April 1, 2014: The Epic Split’, ‘The Hamster Stunt’ and‘The Hook’ have been firm YouTube favourites throughout the autumn. Now, after a public vote, Volvo Trucks has been now been awarded ‘Communicator of the Year’, a prestigious Swedish communication award, for its successful campaign featuring these viral videos.

“It's a huge honour that so many have voted for us. It testifies to the fact that our communication is engaging and has wide relevance. The campaign has contributed to a new way of seeing B2B communication," says Per Nilsson, Director Public Relations at Volvo Trucks.

The award is being presented by the Swedish Association of Communication Professionals. Its jury named two finalists whose communication over the past year has been deemed especially noteworthy - Volvo Trucks and Battle of the Numbers. After the two finalists were chosen, it was up to the public to vote for their favourite during a three-week period - a vote that Volvo Trucks won.

Volvo Trucks is being given the prize for its innovative communication campaign during the launch of its new range in the autumn of 2013. In total, the campaign includes six spectacular videos, with ‘The Epic Split’ featuring Jean-Claude Van Damme being the most viewed with over 100 million views on YouTube. The videos were followed with extensive material and activities that describe the new trucks and include news on aspects such as technical advances and handling.

"We have every reason to be very proud of our trucks and the way we communicate them. The results, including the large number of people sharing our YouTube clips, reactions from customers, and awards such as ‘Communicator of the Year', are proof that we have been successful," explained Per Nilsson.

The winner of the ‘Communicator of the Year Award 2014' was honoured during a ceremony held in Stockholm on March 27th.
