April 30, 2014: Honda (UK) continues to help customers keep costs down and manage their budgets this spring, with low monthly payments, 0 per cent APR and an optional fixed-price FIVE year care package on the British built Civic hatchback which has benefited from a series of updates for 2014.

Customers can drive away a 2014 Civic 1.4 i-VTEC S for just £209 per month, or the super-frugal Civic 1.6 i-DTEC S for just £239 per month. These monthly costs include Honda (UK)’s very popular fixed-price comprehensive care package, ‘FIVE’*. Also available as a one-off £500 payment across the Civic range, this package offers potential savings of up to £1,345, leaving customers safe in the knowledge that their major motoring costs - servicing, warranty and roadside assistance – are all covered for the next five years. The ‘Five’ care package is already proving a bit hit since it was introduced at the beginning of 2014 with over 90 per cent of new Honda customers taking up the offer.

The refreshed version of the popular British-built Civic hatchback benefits from several modifications to enhance handling; a fresh look inside and out and a new suite of advanced safety technologies.

Overall it feels more agile and responsive, thanks to the re-tuned front and rear dampers for enhanced body control; while the EPS (Electronic Power Steering) has been re-tuned to improve high speed stability and the rear suspension has been re-aligned to further improve handling. The updates to the Civic build on its many strengths, which when packaged together with the new 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engine, offers an impressive balance between fuel economy (78.5 mpg) and performance (120 PS and 300 Nm), with CO2 emissions of just 94 g/km.

The 2014 Civic also features several exterior and interior enhancements to give a more distinctive and sports inspired look and feel. Changes to the exterior styling focus on the rear of the car, with the introduction of privacy glass to the rear window. Smoke coloured rear combination lights have also been introduced, along with a new license plate, tailgate, and lower bumper finish, all in piano black. It now features a new front bumper finish also in piano black, darker wheel arch finishes and new 17” Aluminium wheels finished in silver and black. Additionally, subtle cosmetic changes to the interior further emphasise the quality feel of the Civic.

Leon Brannan, Head of Cars at Honda (UK) commented: “The Civic is an important model for Honda, and as such we are constantly looking at how we can further enhance its ‘Sporting and Advanced’ characteristics. With the much anticipated new Civic Type R on the horizon these changes very much point to the direction that we continue to take with the Civic range. We’re confident that such low monthly payments coupled with low and manageable running costs will add even further to the appeal of the Civic.”

The 2014 Civic also offers as an option a comprehensive range of new advanced safety systems known as ‘Driver Assistance Safety Pack’ which was introduced recently on the new Civic Tourer. These two new suites of sensor based active and passive safety systems use a combination of cameras and radar technologies to give the driver and passengers, complete peace of mind in all driving conditions.
