May 21, 2014: Prize handed over at Fleet World Honours lunch at the prestigious Royal Automobile Club Fleet World calls the Leon “lifeblood of SEAT’s success”

The new SEAT Leon has taken the Best Lower Medium Car Award in the 2014 Fleet World Honours.

Steve Moody, Editor of Fleet World, commented: “The Leon has come of age in its latest generation, available with a choice of three body styles, with variants ranging from 85.6mpg Ecomotive to the figurehead 280hp Cupra. With sharp styling, premium-class options and the estate version it has always needed, it's no wonder this has become the lifeblood of SEAT's recent success in fleet.”

A delighted Peter McDonald, Head of Fleet & Business Sales for SEAT UK, added: “We have always believed the Leon is the best in its class so fully deserving of this award! But winning the best medium-sized car category is a fantastic accolade for the fleet team and the brand. It shows that the judges have great confidence in both the car and the service our network provides. We’re seeing a significant growth in true fleet this year, with the latest figures for May promising an outstanding 2014.”

The SEAT Leon range was recently bolstered by the addition of the range-topping Cupra versions, which offers up to 280 PS from a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, meaning every version hits the 62 mph benchmark in less than six seconds. Despite that, fuel consumption is 44.1mpg combined for the most powerful 280 PS version equipped with a DSG automatic gearbox.

At the more efficiency focused end of the Leon spectrum there’s the Leon Ecomotive, which is available in three body styles – three-door SC, five-door hatchback and ST estate – and returns an impressive 85.6mpg combined. Prices for the Leon range begin at £15,550.
