MMSDC, Ford Motor Company to Host Asian Heritage Day May 28th at MGM Grand Detroit

DETROIT--May 21, 2014: The Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council (MMSDC) is set to host its first ever Asian Heritage Day celebration on Wednesday, May 28th 2014, from 4-6pm at the MGM Grand Casino in Downtown Detroit. The event's Presenting Sponsor is Ford Motor Company.

Asian Heritage Day will pay tribute to two of MMSDC's constituent groups, East Asian and Asian-Indian Americans. Hau Thai-Tang, Group Vice President of Global Purchasing at Ford Motor Company, will deliver the keynote address while Andy Choi from WXYZ will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Music will be provided by Sumkali, a local Indian fusion band based in Ann Arbor.

Asian Heritage Day is a part of MMSDC's ongoing "Heritage Day Event Series," which focuses on celebrating the five ethnicities comprising the MMSDC member base. Each event features networking and learning opportunities for minority business enterprises (MBEs), including a keynote speaker, local celebrities, food, and music related to that particular ethnic group.

Chrysan Industries, Inc. will serve as the MBE Event Sponsor, while Ewie Co., Inc. will serve as the Living the Dream Sponsor. The MMSDC has partnered with other local constituencies to make this event possible, including: Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce, Chinese Association of Greater Detroit, APIAVote, Detroit Chinese Business Association, Vietnamese American Association of Michigan, Filipino American Community Council of Michigan, and the Japan Business Society of Detroit.
