BMW 30 Jahre M5 interior featuring Alcantara

MORE INFO

MILAN--June 5, 2014: Alcantara is featured throughout the interior of BMW's recently introduced fifth-generation 30 Jahre M5 – one of the most powerful cars ever built by the Munich-based automaker.

The company plans to build only 300 of the limited-edition 30 Jahre M5's to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the M5. To enhance the 30 Jahre's interior, BMW chose Alcantara due to the Italian-made material's unique combination of features, including carbon-neutrality, lightweight, breathability, sporty grip and luxurious look-and-feel.

Alcantara is being used on the 30 Jahre M5's seats, backrests, pillars, steering wheel and headliner.

Alcantara and BMW have a long-standing partnership which is further underlined by the German carmaker's selection of Alcantara to satisfy the M5's standards for quality and image.

Founded in 1972, Alcantara represents a prime example of Italian-produced quality. As a registered trademark of Alcantara S.p.A. and the result of unique and proprietary technology, Alcantara® is a highly innovative material that offers an unrivalled combination of sensory, aesthetic and functional qualities.

Thanks to its extraordinary versatility, Alcantara is the choice of leading brands in a number of fields: fashion and accessories, automotive, interior design, home décor, and consumer-electronics. Its unique features, together with a serious and certified commitment in terms of sustainability, make Alcantara a true icon of contemporary lifestyles: the lifestyles of those who want to fully enjoy everyday life while respecting the environment.

Since 2009, Alcantara has been certified "Carbon Neutral", having defined, reduced and offset all the CO2 emissions derived from its activity. In 2011, the analysis was extended to Alcantara's entire product lifecycle, including use and disposal phases ("from cradle to grave"). The company annually prepares and publishes its own Sustainability Report, certified by the TÜV SÜD international authority and available on its own corporate website.

Headquartered in Milan, Alcantara has production facilities and an R&D department in Nera Montoro in the heart of the Umbria Region (Terni).
