LE MANS - June 14, 2014

TS040 HYBRID #7 (Alex Wurz, Stéphane Sarrazin, Kazuki Nakajima)
Grid: 1st

Kazuki took over the #7 car in the lead of the race. An accident further down the field after almost seven hours brought out the third safety car of the race. Like Stéphane before him, Kazuki needed to pit for more fuel during the safety car period and was held at pit exit while one of the three safety car groups passed. While this cost time, the #2 Audi had also suffered a similar fate, meaning the #7 slightly extended its lead by the time racing resumed after a 15-minute safety car period. Kazuki kept up the pace as the sun went down and handed the car back to Alex with a lead of over 90 seconds.

Kazuki Nakajima: “So far everything is going quite well for us. Alex did a great first stint and gave us a bit of a gap. Stephane also pulled away and I managed to extend the lead too. Everything is going in the right way for us but still the race is long. We will keep pushing.”

TS040 HYBRID #8 (Anthony Davidson, Nicolas Lapierre, Sébastien Buemi)
Grid: 3rd

Anthony resumed in the #8 car with his sights set on the top 10. As with the #7, the #8 also made a fuel stop behind the safety car but was more fortunate with the timing and was able to rejoin directly because the field had already cleared the pit straight. Consistently competitive times helped Anthony move into seventh place but with three laps to make up on the sixth-placed #14 Porsche, further progress would require more patience. Anthony was forced to relinquish the driver’s seat to Nicolas earlier than planned, pitting due to a slow puncture after just three laps of his stint.

Anthony Davidson: “The task now for the #8 is to score as many points as possible for the World Championship. We are pushing as hard as we can and we will try to get the best result possible. My stint was cut short a bit; after my second stop I felt something wasn’t right on the left rear so we had to pit early.”
