Statement by Honda Canada Regarding Passenger Frontal Airbag Inflator Safety Recall

recall

MARKHAM, Ontario--June 24, 2014: Honda will voluntarily recall certain vehicles in Canada to replace the passenger’s frontal airbag inflators, free of charge. In the affected vehicles, it is possible that the front passenger airbag inflators may deploy with too much pressure, which may cause the inflator casing to rupture and could result in injury to the occupant. Honda is not aware of any injuries or accidents in Canada related to this issue. The specific number of affected vehicles in Canada is still being determined. Models recalled in Canada include:

2002-2003 Honda Civic, CR-V, Odyssey and Acura EL

2003 Honda Accord, Element, Pilot and Acura MDX

Honda is announcing these market actions to encourage owners to take their vehicles to an authorized Honda or Acura dealer as soon as they receive notification from Honda or Acura. Mailed notification to customers will begin in late July, 2014. After that time, the most up-to-date available consumer information about these market actions will be obtainable at Honda Recalls and Acura Recalls or by calling (888) 9HONDA9 or Honda owners or (888) 9ACURA9 for Acura owners.
