Ford China July Sales Up 25 Percent, Annual Sales Reach 640,031 Vehicles, Up 33 Percent

Ford China July sales reach 90,775 wholesale vehicles, up 25 percent; year-to-date sales reach 640,031 vehicles, up 33 percent; CAF July sales reach 64,130 wholesale vehicles, up 19 percent; year-to-date sales reach 462,088 vehicles, up 36 percent; JMC July sales reach 22,031 wholesale vehicles, up 33 percent; year-to-date sales reach 154,969 vehicles, up 22 percent

SHANGHAI -- August 08, 2014: Ford China sales continued to grow in July, with 90,775 vehicles sold, an increase of 25 percent from 72,834 sold in July 2013. Steady customer demand for Ford’s global nameplates pushed year-to-date sales to 640,031 vehicles, up 33 percent from 480,555 sold during the same period last year.

Ford’s passenger car joint venture Changan Ford (CAF) sold 64,130 vehicles in July, up 19 percent compared to 53,947 sold in July 2013. Strong monthly performance drove year-to-date sales to 462,088 vehicles, a 36 percent increase from the 340,627 sold in the first seven months of 2013.

Sales of Ford SUVs, the Ford Kuga and Ford EcoSport, were on the rise last month, contributing to healthy sales growth. Ford Kuga July sales rose 10 percent with 10,450 vehicles sold while Ford EcoSport July sales increased 22 percent with 7,302 vehicles sold. Year-to-date sales for the two SUV nameplates have risen 63 and 83 percent respectively.

Steady customer demand for the Ford Mondeo nameplate also helped drive CAF sales last month. The Ford Mondeo nameplate, which sets the bar for smart technology and refinement, sold 10,154 vehicles in July, an 807 percent increase from July 2013. Year-to-date sales have hit 69,880 vehicles, up 151 percent from the same period last year.

Ford's commercial vehicle investment in China, Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), sold 22,031 vehicles in July, up 33 percent from July 2013. Year-to-date sales reached 154,969 vehicles, up 22 percent from 126,773 in the first seven months of 2013.

Sales for the multi-purpose Ford Transit commercial vehicle reached 6,066 vehicles in July, an 11 percent increase from last year. Year-to-date sales have increased five percent, with 39,737 vehicles sold.

Ford remains on track to bring 15 new vehicles to China by the end of 2015 as part of its accelerated China growth plan. To keep up with local demand, Ford currently operates seven manufacturing plants in China, with three additional plants currently under construction.
