50 Years of the Ford Mustang to be Celebrated at 17th Annual Fleet Week Coronado Speed Festival

SAN DIEGO -- Sept. 16, 2014: Tens of thousands of car enthusiasts will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang at this week's 17th Annual Fleet Week Coronado Speed Festival in San Diego, CA.

"You can expect to see Mustangs in all shapes, sizes, and ages – including classics from 1965 to the current model Mustang—and everything in between," said Marc Bodrie of the Mustang Club of San Diego. "Festival goers can expect to see hardtops, coupes convertibles, Mach1's, Fastbacks, Bosses and several one-of-a-kind, rare Mustangs at this event. There truly is no event like the Fleet Week Coronado Speed Festival and we are so excited to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang at this year's event. It will truly be a celebration of the evolution of the Mustang."

Located on the most distinctive race track location in the country—Naval Air Station North Island—the Fleet Week Coronado Speed Festival features fast-paced, exhilarating auto racing and rare exhibitions on an active military base, an appearance by Redbull-sponsored street bike stuntman Aaron Colton and the world-renowned Robby Gordon Off-Road Formula SUPER Trucks, and car corrals, car shows, and more.

In addition, it's the only Navy Open House on the West Coast, offering free admission for tours of the USS Nimitz, USS Somerset, and the USS Pinckney.
