NEW HYDE PARK, NY -- Sept. 17, 2014: Kimco Realty Corp. , the nation’s largest publicly-traded owner and operator of neighborhood and community shopping centers, today announced the opening of a Tesla Motors Inc. Supercharger station at Kimco’s Gateway at Donner Pass shopping center in Truckee, Calif.

“We consistently evaluate new opportunities to enhance the shopping experience for our customers and providing charging stations for Tesla owners seemed like the next smart choice.”

“This new highly-anticipated Supercharger site allows customers to charge their vehicle as they shop and dine at our center,” said David Jamieson, vice president of leasing and asset management at Kimco. “We consistently evaluate new opportunities to enhance the shopping experience for our customers and providing charging stations for Tesla owners seemed like the next smart choice.”

The station features six Supercharger bays with the ability to replenish 50 percent battery capacity for a Tesla Model S in as little as 20 minutes, which is 16 times faster than many of the public electric charging stations now available. Situated behind the Safeway supermarket, the charging bays will be open 24 hours a day.

Gateway at Donner Pass, situated off of Interstate 80 (Exit 185) at the intersection of Donner Pass Road and Frates Lane, is anchored by Safeway and Rite Aid, along with several well-known national and regional tenants including Starbucks, Verizon Wireless, Panda Express, and Round Table Pizza.
