Leading Carsharing Service Also Announces New Mobile Access Feature

BROOKLYN, NY -- Nov. 24, 2014: car2go North America LLC, the largest, fastest-growing global carsharing company, announced today that the company has over 13,000 Brooklyn members in its first month of operation in the Brooklyn borough, marking it car2go's fastest-growing market to date. In celebration of the milestone, car2go has also shared Brooklyn user behavior data since its launch, including that its unique fleet of smart cars have been driven 55,000 miles, the equivalent distance of traveling across the U.S. – from coast to coast -- over eight times.

The car2go Brooklyn service, which launched on October 25th, provides 400 car2go vehicles for shared use, allowing members to use the service by the minute, 24 hours a day, seven days a week – without committing to a specific return time or dedicated location. As the only true, point-to-point car-sharing service in North America, car2go Brooklyn members are able to pick up and drop off a car2go anywhere within the Home Area, which includes neighborhoods such as Williamsburg, Park Slope, Red Hook, Coney Island and Sunset Park, among others.

22.45 Minutes – The average car2go trip time in Brooklyn.

Over 55,000 Miles -- Total number of miles driven by car2go Brooklyn vehicles. 55,000 miles is the equivalent of traveling across the country – coast to coast – over eight times.

The G Line -- The most popular subway line to end rentals. car2go's busiest stop was near the G line Broadway stop and the J/M line Lorimer Street stop. With over 300 trips ending within a 0.1 square mile radius of the area, car2go has truly served as a complement to public transportation by bridging the gaps between the first and last mile.

The Barclays Center, Prospect Park and Williamsburg – The most popular destinations for car2go Brooklyn members.

car2go saw nearly 600 trips to the Barclays Center, 700 just north of Prospect Park, and over 1,300 trips to Williamsburg. New Jersey, Connecticut, Upstate New York and Montauk – The furthest trips by a Brooklyn car2go vehicle. car2go has seen its vehicles travel into all five boroughs on a daily basis.

In addition to the Brooklyn data, car2go also announced today the launch of Mobile Access, an upgraded app feature in its iOS and Android applications that allows members to not only search for and reserve a car2go vehicle, but begin their car2go trip via their smartphones. Mobile Access will serve as an alternative to the company's member card, which was, until now, the only way to access a car2go vehicle and end a ride. To use Mobile Access, members must first update their iOS or Android car2go app to version 2.0.

Available to car2go's over 900,000 registered members, the new feature works on car2go's entire global fleet of over 12,500 car2go vehicles. With Regional Access, members are able to use the service seamlessly in each of car2go's 15 locations across North America, when traveling for work or play outside of Brooklyn.
