SEATTLE -- May 27, 2015: Electric Vehicle (EV) drivers are now able to plug in and charge their cars while they shop or grab a bite at four of Western Washington's premier retail destinations. Simon, a leading global retail real estate company, and NRG EVgo (ee-vee-go), announce today the installation of new electric car fast-charging Freedom Station® sites that can recharge shoppers' vehicles in 30 minutes or less at four Western Washington Simon shopping centers: Northgate Mall, Tacoma Mall, Seattle Premium Outlets and North Bend Premium Outlets.

"Simon is committed to providing sustainable amenities for our customers and the opening of multiple EV charging stations is a great example of that," said Mona Benisi, Senior Director of Sustainability for Simon. "The locations of our shopping centers across the U.S. mean that Simon is ideally positioned to contribute to the development of a national infrastructure for electric vehicle charging stations, and also advances the company's sustainability efforts."

Tacoma Mall's EV stations are now open, and located in the parking lot between Forever 21 and Nordstrom.

Seattle Premium Outlet's new EV stations and Freedom Station are also open and located on the ground level of the south side of the center's parking garage.

The EV charging stations at North Bend Premium Outlets are expected to open in late May, and will be located in the parking lot near GAP Outlet.

Northgate Mall's EV charging stations including one Freedom Station will be installed near Nordstrom Rack and will be available for use later this spring.

"EVgo charging stations provide the confidence Seattle-area drivers need to purchase an EV and discover an incredible new driving experience," said Terry O'Day, Vice President of Business Development at NRG EVgo. "By adding to our network of charging stations in the Great Northwest, EV drivers today have more freedom than ever, whether running errands or on longer adventures."

The EVgo Freedom Station sites are designed to support both current and future charging technology, by serving Western Washington EV drivers' on-the-go charging needs regardless of what kind of electric vehicle they drive. The stations currently support CHAdeMO direct current (DC) fast charging, as well as standard alternating current (AC) J1772 Level 2 EV charging and can be upgraded with an SAE Combo charger as more EVs with that charging standard become available.
