WASHINGTON -- June 25, 2015: "Today's House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee hearing on "Vehicle to Vehicle and Connected Roadways of the Future" is an important one.

"Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) technologies will allow cars to communicate with each other and with the surrounding infrastructure – leading to fewer crashes, less traffic congestion and greater fuel savings for consumers.

"I commend the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade for acknowledging the enormous potential these connected car technologies have to improve highway safety, enhance mobility, and benefit the environment. As the pace of innovation in the transportation sector accelerates, automakers are moving ahead of regulation. It's important for us to harness the power of this potentially life-saving technology and use our knowledge to support policymakers working to develop the rules of the road for emerging technologies like V2V communications.
