Subaru Canada Announces Pricing for 2016 Forester

2016 Forester offers improved connectivity and intuitive audio and navigation controls with new infotainment system.

New steering-responsive fog lights for improved visibility.

MISSISSAUGA, ON -- July 6, 2015: Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) is pleased to announce the release of the 2016 Forester. Available in showrooms in early July, the Subaru Forester continues to put the "Sport" in SUV for the 2016 model year. This compact SUV offers an unbeatable combination of all-road/all-weather capability, bulletproof reliability, top-notch safety, exceptional value and sheer driving enjoyment. Boasting best-in-class fuel efficiency among compact SUVs with full-time All-Wheel Drive, best-in-class cargo capacity and excellent visibility, the Forester offers a high level of enjoyment, freedom and stress-free operation.

The Subaru Forester is available with the choice of two high-performing SUBARU BOXER engines – a 2.5L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder or a 2.0L direct-injection twin-scroll turbocharged 4-cylinder. The former is also available with optional PZEV equipment that reduces smog-forming emissions to near zero without any impact on response or drivability. Meanwhile, the turbocharged Forester also features the SI-DRIVE engine management system with three driver-selectable settings for maximum control.

The Subaru Forester offers the choice of a 6-speed manual or Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT), each designed to work with different versions of the Subaru symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive system. On models equipped with the CVT, the X-Mode system brings added capability with the push of a button, offering extra control for extra slippery situations. This system can also tackle the steepest of inclines with confidence and control.

For the 2016 model year, all Forester trim levels gain a more striking interior with upgraded finishes and updated steering wheel controls. A new infotainment system improves connectivity with intuitive audio and navigation. The Forester 2.5i and Forester 2.0XT gain a new AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA audio system with 6.2-inch high-resolution touchscreen offering a larger rear-view camera display, STARLINK smartphone integration (including Aha radio), USB port/iPod control, auxiliary audio input and steering wheel-integrated controls, updated Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity with voice activation and Bluetooth streaming audio, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio installed (free 3-month trial subscription). New one-touch turn signals, sun visor extensions and updated steering wheel controls add convenience. A new exterior shark fin antenna integrated into the body contours gives the Forester a more sophisticated appearance and greater convenience for accessing the roof.

The Forester 2.5i Convenience Package adds welcome lighting, while the Touring Package and Limited Package with optional technology package gain steering-responsive fog lights for greater visibility as well as a revised proximity key FOB. The 2.5i and 2.0XT Limited Package adds a new AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA audio system with 7-inch high-resolution capacitive touchscreen display with GPS navigation system, STARLINK smartphone integration (including Aha radio), dual USB port/iPod control, auxiliary audio input and SMS text messaging capability and SiriusXM Satellite Radio (free 3-month trial subscription included). The 2016 Forester Limited Package also introduces the new Subaru Map Update program, which offers three free navigational updates over three years. Lastly, the Forester 2.0XT Limited Package with optional technology package introduces steering-responsive fog lights and a revised proximity key FOB.
