SLIME REMINDS DRIVERS ABOUT IMPORTANT TIRE SAFETY TIPS FOR NATIONAL TIRE SAFETY WEEK

San Luis Obispo, CA (May 2019) -Slime, the nation's leader in tire technology, wants to remind drivers about some very important tire safety tips in conjunction with National Tire Safety Week, May 20-27, 2019. While these tips may seem evident to some, they are usually ignored by the majority of drivers on the road today:

1. Check your tire pressure monthly. Proper tire pressure is found easiest on the driver's door jamb placard or in the owner's manual, not the side of the tire, which indicates the maximum tire pressure. Save tires. Save fuel! Run the correct tire pressure!

2. Check your tire tread depth monthly. Reduced tread can mean poor handling and braking, not to mention an increased risk of a blowout.

3. Check your tire pressure when your tires are cool, especially after cold evenings. A drop in temperature overnight can cause a drop in tire pressure.

4. Carry sealant and/or a tire repair kit everywhere you go. Chances are your spare is underinflated or flat (they lose air over time) and you don't want to be stuck on the side of the road trying to change a tire. Sealants and tire repair kits are the safest and quickest way to get back on the road. 5. Make sure your tires have valve caps. Valve caps prevent damage to your valve stem, as well as prevent dirt from entering your valve. They also protect against air loss, so be sure to replace any leaking or cracked valve caps. “Our hope is that you'll never actually need to repair your tire,?? said Chad Ellman, Slime Senior Brand Manager. "Some basic maintenance steps can help prevent a flat and carrying a sealant or a tire repair kit will help you get back on your way quickly if it does happen.??
